Rock Castle Living History Days

Each Fall, Rock Castle is transformed back to its former way of life, as historical reenactors and demonstrators recreate a 1784 landscape for guests to explore!

Participants will engage with 18th century tradesmen and women including a blacksmith, log hewer, and pottery artisan. They will enjoy hands on interactions with goats and chickens and sheep, and test their skill on the dance floor with 18th Century music and dance caller! Visitors will see the process of fabric being made, from the fresh-sheared wool from a sheep to the natural dying methods used to color it, to the loom where it’s woven into fabric. They’ll be able to try their hand at militia drills and see a Revolutionary War cannon firing! And the highlight of the day may be the historical Magic Show by none other than Rodney the Younger!
