There is nothing quite like a Tennessee summer evening when the heat gives way to a sunset over Old Hickory Lake, a cold craft beer is in hand, and acoustic melodies float across the lawn.
The Summer Songwriter Series returns to Historic Rock Castle for 2027! Voted Sumner County’s Best Outdoor Music Venue and Best Historic Site, this lakeside gathering brings together exceptional songwriters, delicious local eats, and an effortless, family-friendly backyard vibe.
Grab your favorite camp chairs, pack a picnic blanket, and join us under the trees.

Music Event FAQs
Is outside food/beverage allowed?
Our music events feature the best food truck and beverage vendors around, but you are welcome to bring your own coolers and non-alcoholic drinks. Glass bottles and containers are PROHIBITED.
Are dogs allowed?
Non-aggressive dogs are allowed at most outdoor music events. They must be leashed at all times. Pet parents must bring waste bags and pick up after their pet.
Are pop-up tents / umbrellas allowed?
Pop-up tents, canopy structures, and umbrellas are not permitted, as overhead setups obstruct the view for other guests, and staking is not allowed on this lawn. Plenty of natural shade is available under the trees—we suggest arriving early (between 4:30 and 5:00 PM) to claim a prime shady spot!
Where is parking?
Parking is available in our paved parking lot, with overflow parking on the lawn if needed. Marked accessible spaces are reserved near the entrance for guests with disabilities or special mobility needs.
What food trucks will be there?
We feature a different mix of local food trucks each month! Guests can usually look forward to refreshing shaved ice along with popular dinner options like street tacos, Nashville hot chicken, and barbecue. You’ll also find local craft beers on tap and classic backyard grill staples (burgers, hot dogs, brats, snacks) and sodas/water/Gatorade, and candy at our concession stand.
Is seating provided?
A limited number of picnic tables and round plastic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We strongly encourage guests to bring their own camp chairs or picnic blankets to ensure a comfortable spot on the lawn!
Do I need tickets ahead of time? What is the ticket cost?
Admission is at the gate (no advance ticket necessary). Guests age 13 and up are $10, under 13 is free.

Cash, major credit cards, debit cards, Venmo
